This was a very young Dons side that struggled without the injured Pawlett, Clark and Jack, leading to a number of enforced changes, particularly in midfield where Motherwell were well on top throughout.
All the goals came in the first half, Martin scoring after 15 and 25 minutes, Hendrie after 40. At half time the two new signings from the Faroe Islands both came on and both impressed while Meggieson up front also had another good game.
After the game Neil Cooper said, "We did have to make a number of changes, for example we had Gary Carroll playing at right back and three left sided players in midfield, so the balance of the team was not right. That is no excuse though as we struggled in the first half and played poorly."
