Aberdeen Ul9s went down 2-1 to St Mirren in an action packed game. The young Dons started the game well, playing some good possession football, but the final ball let them down. After 10 minutes, and against the run of play, they conceded a penalty when Scott Bain was adjudged to have pulled a down a player in the box. The goalkeeper was booked but then produced a great save. Aberdeen continued to play some attractive football but could find no way through and the teams went in level at half time.
In the second half St Mirren came more into it, hitting the woodwork on a few occasions and they took the lead on 70 minutes when Burns set up Stirling. Aberdeen responded well and got a deserved equaliser nine minutes later. A great ball from Stirling Smith wide on the left found substitute Callum McRobbie who finished well.
The Dons cruelly lost the game in the dying minutes. It was from a controversial penalty. Although the decision itself looked correct, a St Mirren player had handed the ball earlier in the move but the referee waved play on much to the disappointment of the Aberdeen players. Bolger and Carroll both had chances for the Dons near the end but failed to take them.
