match report 1904-05 fixture list
Forres Mechanics 2 - 6 Aberdeen
Kick Off:          Unknown, Unknown, Unknown, Unknown, Unknown.
Attendance: 0
Venue: Mosset Park, Forres
These teams met in a friendly match at Forres yesterday before a fair attendance. The visitors had their full league team out, but Forres were below their usual strength. Captain M.J. Grant -Peterkin of the Grange kicked off half an hour late, and from the start the Aberdeen took the game in hand, and soon led by three goals, Palmer's goal being bombarded the whole time. The Forres attack lacked spirit, and, with the exception of one of two runs, they did nothing worthy of note in this half. In the second half the play was more even, the home team playing with more life, and as a result they scored twice threw Clark and McPherson, Aberdeen finding the net three times. The Aberdeen, however were seldom stretched, Low making no attempt to score from a penalty, and in other ways the ground team were let down gently. The defensive Aberdeen was strong, and McAulay's play in the front line was very much admired. Mr. James Rigby, Forres, proved an efficient referee. The visitors were entertained by the local club in the Bellslea hotel.
