In the opening exchanges McAteer had a hard drive, which the custodian stopped with difficulty. Unproductive corners to both clubs followed, after which the Dundee forwards carried out several harassing attacks on the Aberdeen goal, but without success. Aberdeen were first to score. Jeffrey and McAteer tumbled over each other, and Robertson, seizing the opportunity, easily beat Riley. Dundee claims the larger portion of the play oft are thus, but the shooting of the forwards was poor. McAteer was the only one of the home lot who gave the visitors' custodian any trouble. In the closing minutes of the first half Riley was cheered for smart work when McAulay was dangerous.

The second half was but a minute old when Cowie from close in and beat Macfarlane, will soon afterwards Macfarlane gave Dundee the lead. Even play followed, Aberdeen showing weakness at the goalmouth, while Brand missed an open goal for the locals. After which the game was scrappy, and very little good work was shown on either side. No more scoring took place, and the result was - Dundee, 2; Aberdeen, 1.
