East Scotland League
16/08/1905

Dundee 2 - 2 Aberdeen
Kick Off:    Bell, Dainty       Henderson, Ward.
Attendance: 6,000
Venue: Dens Park, Dundee
Dundee was nonplussed by vigorous work by the visitors' defenders. Robertson and Davidson drew the opposition nicely from cover, and Ward getting the ball, with only Muir in front of him, had no difficulty in registering the first point after five minutes play. This early reverse served to spur up the homesters and as the result of lovely work by the left wing Bell equalised. The game, while fast, was of a rather scrappy nature, and the shooting was not always on the mark. Half-time score:- Dundee, one; Aberdeen, one.
In the second period the players showed signs of fag, and play was not quite so fast. Muddling was more frequent both by forwards and defender, but it was a really fine bit of work by which Henderson allowed Aberdeen to once again take the lead. Ward brought out Muir's abilities with a swift ground shot, which the custodian brilliantly threw behind. Cowie at the other end likewise was dead on from far out, but Barret fisted out nicely. Persistent pressing by MacFarlane led to Dainty again equalising, the goalkeeper having no chance with his fast drive. Play now became more lively, and excitement was high. Dainty struck the crossbar with a splendid shot. McLuckie just missed the net from the rebound. Final result:- Dundee, two goals; Aberdeen, two. The drawings amounted to £76.

At Dens Park last night. Teams:-
Dundee: Muir; McAteer, McKenzie; Henderson, Dainty, McDiarmid; Bell, Macfarlane, McLuckie, Cowie, Fraser.
Aberdeen: Barrett; Murray, Brebner; Halkett, Strang, Low; Robertson, Henderson, Ward, McAulay, Lennie.

After a quiet opening, Ward scored for Aberdeen in five minutes. Then Dundee pressed, and Bell was successful in equalising. There was no more scoring in the first half, but on resuming Henderson again gave the Aberdonians a lead. Dundee afterwards took the game in hand, and after Cowie had squared matters, McLuckie and Dainty caused Barrett some uneasiness.
