In the High Cup, Dundee met Aberdeen on Dens Park last night before 5000 spectators.
Dundee at the start took the game in hand, Dainty just missing with a header. Blackburn was prominent for Aberdeen, and a beautiful centre of his was almost sent into the net by O'Hagan, who beat Crumley with a great shot. Play was of a mediocre description, the teams showing much inferior football to that displayed in the great Scottish Cup ties last season.
On resuming after half-time, which arrived without either team having scored, McFarlane drew first blood, while Aberdeen, through McNair, equalised immediately afterwards. O'Hagan and Lennie were slow to display their clever combination, and only one or two glimpses of their ability was shown. After Dundee scored again through Dainty, the Aberdeen players warmed up, but they were unable to secure the equaliser. Bellamy was a thorn to the visitors' half-backs, and some illegal tactics were introduced. Aberdeen were well served by Mutch, Colman, McIntosh, Lennie, and O'Hagan.
