ABERDEEN WIN BENEFIT MATCH AT PETERHEAD. |
 |
In a game for the benefit of Harry Aitken, the Peterhead right back, at the Recreation Grounds last night, Aberdeen defeated the home team by 2 goals to 1. There was a large attendance, and the match provided a spectacular treat. The play of the visitors was greatly admired. Alec Jackson had both goals for the winners, and Lawrie scored from a penalty for Peterhead. In the second half the Aberdeen team was re-arranged. Hutton showed skill as a goalkeeper, and stopped everything except Lawrie's spot kick. Alec Jackson was a success at right back, and Blackwell did well as a forward. The receipts amounted to about £50, which is considered very satisfactory. Peter Craigmyle was referee, and very successfully interpreted the spirit of the game.
