Dewar Shield First Preliminary Round First Leg
Fraserburgh 0 - 1 Aberdeen
Kick Off:          Thomson 55.
Attendance: 2,000
Venue: Bellslea Park, Fraserburgh

That Fraserburgh were worthy winners of the Highland League championship was fully demonstrated at Bellslea Park last night against Aberdeen's first string, who beat them by the only goal scored from a free-kick, Johnstone, Aberdeen's keeper, shortly afterwards brilliantly saving from a penalty.
A crowd of 2000 spectators were simply electrified by the magnificent performance of the men on the home side in this the first of the Dewar Shield qualifying matches.
For fifty-five minutes Fraserburgh defied the Dons and the exchanges were equal.
Thomson scored the only goal of a grand encounter from a free kick just outside the penalty area. Five minutes later Fraserburgh were awarded penalty. J. Duthie, the left-half, took the kick, and Johnstone saved in masterly style.
Opinion was pretty unanimous that the tussle was value for a draw. The woodwork deprived Fraserburgh from finding the net on two or three occasions.
Seldom have the homesters been in such grand form. They were as smart on the ball and as full of running as the Dons, and had nothing to learn from them in the art of tackling.
The strongest departments of both teams were the intermediate trios, and both defences were more than a match for the attacks.
