IF the Dons mean to make the .grade on Wednesday they will have to reveal more verve than they did against St. Mirren. Only in the last twenty minutes did they weld into a smooth and dangerous striking force.
The play of the defence did not inspire confidence and most of the initiative and drive in attack came from George Hamilton and Harry Yorston.
Martin was safe enough. He wrenched his stomach muscles in saving a high ball from Rice in the second half and was off for a short spell. The news this morning, however, is that he is expected to be fit for the semi-final.
Jimmy Delaney, who was an absentee at Hampden, has recovered from his thigh injury. It was decided not to risk him against St Mirren, but he, too, should be O.K. for Wednesday.

IN the two matches played in the Festival tournament Emery has not produced the energy and dash which characterised his play last season. He must improve on this form.>/br> Harris was the Dons' best defender on Saturday. He and Lowrie changed over in the second half. Harris was powerful in defence and after the interval he was the man behind many of the attacking movements.
Thomson at centre - half various lifts and finished with marred his display by his mistake when St Mirren opened the scoring. Lowrie played hard in defence, but was seldom seen as an attacking half.
Bogan became a lively raider for the Dons only in the closing stages, and the zip was missing from the play of Pearson and Baird.
