Kick Off:  3:00 PM   McCall 6.       Johnstone o.g. 75
Attendance: 10,000
Venue: Pittodrie Stadium, Aberdeen
Drawn Game at Pittodrie
The Dons might well have beaten Rangers at Pittodrie on Saturday but for the fact that Lyon received a leg injury in the early stages of the second half, and had to be drafted into the attack. The centre-half had been the mainspring of a strong Aberdeen defence and his inclusion in the attack upset the balance of the team. McCall, the most dangerous forward, had to be withdrawn to the half-back line. The Pittodrie forwards should have built up a more substantial lead than a single goal in the first half.

Junior at Centre

Hay, Hall Russell's centre, led the Pittodrie side. He shaped well at the start, but later was very subdued. Donaldson on the right looked dangerous but for long spells was neglected by his partner, Clewlow, who was slow. Dyer on the other wing, was over-impetuous. Taylor was the most successful wing half. Ancell was the most polished back afield. Cooper had his hands full with McNee, and Johnstone, the equalising goal apart, effected some grand saves. The Rangers defence had plenty to do in the first half, and Jenkins in goal saved his side more than once. Cowan was the better back, but the "brains" of the team was Brown. Honours in attack went to McNee, but Rutherford also took the eye.

The Goals

Aberdeen's goal came six minutes from the start. Hay headed forward a great cross from Donaldson, and while the Ibrox defence stood hesitating, McCall went through to beat Jenkins with a hard drive. Rangers' equalising goal came fifteen minutes from the end. McNee crossed an awkward, swirling ball. Johnstone reached up for it with both hands, and instead of punching it, tried to pull it down. The ball finished in the net.
