Dons Fall to East Fife
East Fife scored a dramatic victory over Aberdeen at Bayview Park on Saturday. There were only thirty seconds left for play when P. Simpson netted the winning goal for the Methil team. Twenty-five minutes after the interval, Howe, Derby County, playing at left back for Aberdeen, received a foot injury which necessitated his leaving the field for the remainder of the game.

Defence Sound

Howe had shown himself a strong tackling and sure footed defender. The Aberdeen defence all through was magnificent and it is doubtful if the home team would ever have scored but for the loss of Howe. The forwards must shoulder responsibility for their defeat. Their play was most disappointing. The only man who escapes criticism is Milne, who got little support, yet he contrived to make himself a nuisance to the East Fife defence. Both McLeod and McCall had a bad game. They were slow and inaccurate. The extreme wingers too, were unenterprising, and failed to grasp good scoring chances.

Speedy Home Forwards

Although the East Fife defence played well, the ineptitude of the Pittodrie forwards probably made them look better than they were. The home forwards were speedier and looked more dangerous than the Aberdeen lot.
