Dons Romp Home in Cup Decider - Devastating Football
The Dons played devastating football to win the North-Eastern League Cup at Pittodrie Park on Saturday. Theirs was certainly a grand performance. To start with a 4-1 deficit and to triumph with an aggregate of seven goals to six leaves no doubt as to the teamwork, skill and determination of the players. For the greater part of the game the Dundee team was smothered by the Pittodrie avalanche. The Dons got off to a flying start. Almost before they knew they had started the United had lost a goal.

Four in 23 Minutes

Within eighteen minutes Aberdeen had levelled the aggregate score and in twenty-two-and-a-half they were in the lead. Four goals in less than twenty three minutes was blitzkrieg football. Aberdeen played even more confidently in the second half and at times they practically toyed with the United. It says much for the fighting spirit of the Dundee side, however, that they found the net twice in the closing stages to make a "tight" finish of it. All the Aberdeen players gave of their best. Brown (Clyde) in goal handled confidently and was well protected by the backs and half-backs. Cooper was never in difficulties and Lyon was the essence of steadiness. Dunlop played one of his best games of the season.

Forwards Sparkle

The forwards were irresistible. Donaldson was fast and dangerous on the right, and Williams on the other wing required watching. The inside forwards worked well together. Anderson (Hibs) led the line with rare dash and he was supported by two crafty players in McCall and Hamilton. Williams got Aberdeen's first goal from a cross from Anderson, and Donaldson got the second from a lob from Dunlop. Anderson got the next with a header from a cross from Donaldson, and Lyon netted No 4 from a penalty. About six minutes from the end of the game Watson counted for the United from a penalty, but Donaldson netted another grand goal for the Dons. In the last minute Gallacher got the visitors' second goal.
