THE score at Pittodrie on Saturday should have been - Aberdeen 8, Hearts 0. The Dons conceded three of the silliest goals imaginable - goals which may yet have a distinct bearing on the championship.

When Hearts scored their firs goal, the ball should have been cleared out before McCrae got his head to it. The second was lost through the defence standing still waiting for the referee to give offside, and in the case of the third the ball should have been cleared before Beattie got to it.
These mistakes apart, the Dons won well. The game was a triumph for young Gouriay, who scored four of the Dons' goals and was unlucky not to get a fifth. His play throughout was first class.
Mortensen had two goals and was unlucky not to get a hat-triok, the ball striking the post on one occasion. He demonstrated how to make speed with the ball under perfect control, Ancell, his partner, also did some useful work.
The defence, apart from slackness when the Hearts got their goals, was in excellent form, with Dunlop and Taylor clever and thrustful at wing-haif, and Gavin and Cooper powerful defenders.
Hearts' best men were Brown, McSpadyen, Christie, and McCrae. There were close 16,000 spectators.
