TWELVE thousand spectators saw the Dons smash their way through to a great 4-1 home victory over East Fife. This success has placed the Dons in such a strong position at the top of the North-Eastern League - they now lead by four points - that it seems certain another championship flag will be unfurled at Pittodrie.
There was no doubting the Dons' superiority. From start to finish they were far ahead of the Fifers in every phase of the game. In fact, they were merciful to their opponents.
Great team work was the secret of the Dons' success. There was perfect understanding. The Fifers fought gamely, hut they could not counter the brilliantly conceived attacking movements of the homesters.
Individually and collectively, the Aberdeen players played grand football. The defence was steady and resourceful. The half-backs were great fettle, with Dunlop the star performer. He has played many grand games for the Dons, and his performance in this game ranked with his best.
Forward, there was no comparison between the teams. The Pittodrie attack, on this showing, would have beaten any defence. Ancell was a lively winger, clever at inside right, and Pattillo a thrustful leader. Mortensen's scheming was brilliant, and those quick dashes through the opposing defence won the admiration all. Dryden also did useful work.
Two men, Gordon in goal, and Sneddon at centre-half, stood out the visiting team.
