WORRIED T0 DEFEAT! |
 |
Aberdeen did not come out of this encounter with a ton of glory. Luck compensated for a good deal of mediocrity in the Dons' forward line, where there was a little sparkle.
Dunfermline had a forward line with punch, and Aberdeen had reason to thank its reliable defence. But even it nodded when Hunter equalised in the first half-hour.
Dunfermline suffered from over anxiety near the end, and their balance was affected. That same anxiety led to Aberdeen being gifted the penalty which Dyer converted.
Paly was of the cup-tie variety, with the finer touches conspicuously absent - a type of game in which Aberdeen is at a disadvantage.
Outstanding for Dunfermline was Harley, whose speed and quick recovery caught the eye. Aberdeen's back and half lines took any credit that was going.
