Gallant Fight by Ten Dons
The Dons went down fighting gallantly to the end at Methil, where East Fife won by the odd goal in nine. The Dons did not deserve to be beaten. They put up a great fight throughout, and would have drawn had not the referee disallowed what appeared to be quite a legitimate goal in the closing minutes.

Aberdeen probability would have gained both points had Hutton Bremner not become a casualty five minutes after the start. He remained on the field for about half-an-hour, during which time he was not even able to kick the ball. He retired from the game shortly bsfore the interval.
Bremner's absence was a great handicap to the Dons. They missed his drive and steadying influence. Another factor which contributed to Aberdeen's defeat was that, through Anderson calling off at the last minute, there was no alternative but to play Pattillo at left back and field a junior at centre-forward.
Even with ten men, however, the Dons were not one whit inferior to the Fifers, and the Bayview officials agreed after the game that they deserved a draw.
Johnstone had no chance with the shots that beat him. Cooper played his usual good game, and Pattilio was by no means a failure as his partner.
Dunlop was easily the best half-back afield and honours forward went to Waldron and Munro. The junior centre had a good first half, but Buchan missed the support of Bremner.
East Fife were a rugged lot. They did not play good football and went all out to prevent Aberdeen from doing so.
