AFC - Match Report
match report 1944-45 fixture list
North Eastern League
Raith Rovers 2 - 1 Aberdeen
    Robust Rovers Upset Dons
Kick Off:    Penman 2, Wann 54       Buchan 67.
Attendance: 3,000
Venue: Stark's Park, Kirkcaldy
JITTERINESS in defence in the opening five minutes, the conceding of two soft goals and failure on the part of the team as whole to counter the robust methods of Raith Rovers accounted for the Dons' defeat at Kirkcaldy by the odd goal in three.

Aberdeen were not a good team on Saturday's showing. There was weakness in the rear, lack of punch in the middle, and poor understanding in attack.
If the Dons were moderate lot, the Rovers were no better in a real football sense, but they won bcause they essayed the role of spoilers successfully and prevented the Dons from settling. The Dons had chances to win the match, but did not accept them.
Johnstone cannot be blamed for the defeat. Cooper, who pulled a muscle early in the game, played well, but Dyer was much below form. Dunlop at centre-half was a tireless worker. Russell was slow and weak in tackling, and Green did not impress at left half. There was not good forward In the five, although there was an improvement when Pattillo took over the leadership. Williams disappointed.
Dundee again lead by two points, and Aberdeen are in second place, with Raith Rovers only a point behind.
