| Dons Falter In Bid For Flag |

ABERDEEN, as the result of their defeat by 1-0 by Dunfermline at Pittodrie, are going to have a pretty stiff fight to win the Eastern League championship. The loss two points to the Fifeshire team may well mean the loss of the flag.
The Dons have still four matches to play, two home and two away. Rangers, their nearest rivals, have three engagements to fulfil, and all are on opponents' grounds. East Fife, who are three points behind the Dons, have one away and two home matches to play. It is going be a very exciting finish, but the Dons should have had the championship practically won by this time.
The weather conditions on Saturday were certainly all against good football. There was a very troublesome, strong cross wind which made ball control very difficult, yet both teams could have done better than they did. Taking the game as a whole, however, the Fifers just deserved their win. They were the better of two moderate teams.
The Dons ought have made the points secure in the first period, when they had the advantage of the elements, but they simply would not shoot. In the second period they again had their chances, but failed to take them.
The Dunfermline attack knitted together better in the second half, and Baxter got the ali-important goal.
Aberdeen's best were Johnstone, Cooper, Bremner Dunlop and Lloyd, while the visitors were well served by Allan, Forbes, Kelly, Houliston and Baxter.
