Aberdeen Has Good Chances Of Going Ahead
WITH a lead of three points over Hibs, whom they meet at Easter Road on Saturday, and a goal average much superior to that of the Edinburgh team, Aberdeen's chances of going forward to the League Cup competition proper are good.
They must, however, take a point from one of their remaining two games the preliminary stage to make certain.
That will be difficult, for Hibs and Partick Thistle will be dour and determined teams on their own grounds.

The Dons beat Kilmarnock by the only goal of the match at Pittodrie, while Hibs kept in the running by beating Partick Thistle at Firhill. Thistle cannot now qualify, but Kilmarnock winning their last two games could equal the Dons' present pointage provided the Pittodrie team lost its last two games.
Rangers are now certain to go forward. They have won full points from their four games in section "B."
In sections "A" and "D" the issue is still open.
In Division "B," Dundee, who started badly, had an 8-1 victory over Stirling Albion at home. East Fife look good as qualifiers. Ayr United appear booked for the competition proper, while there is a keen tussle between Airdrie and St. Johnstone.
If the Dons are to take even one poiot from Hibs they must be more convincing than against Kilmarnock. They were the better team, but were not an imgressive combination. Territorially they had a big advantage but the forwards were poor finishers.
Kilmarnock must be given full credit for putting up a tremendous fight. It was unfortunate that Downie, who had kept a grand goal should have blundered when Aberdeen got their solitary goal through Williams.
