Dons Beat Irish Select 2-1
The Aberdeen players will long remember their trip Belfast. It was one of the most successful and enjoyable excursions the Aberdeen club has undertaken, and Belfast hospitals will benefit substantially from the game against an Irish League Select, which resulted in fully deserved victory for the Dons by the odd goal in three.

In the opening quarter the Dons were poor and were fortunate not to be three goals in arrears, shots by the Irish torwards finding the woodwork.
The Select deservedly scored first. A shot from the outside-left struck an Aberdeen defender. It rebounded goalwards and Cooper, standing behind Johnstone, kicked clear, but the referee rightly decided that the ball had crossed the line.

Hamilton Scores

This reverse spurred on the Dons, and it was their just reward when Hamilton equalised. Harris, the former Queen's Park centre, making his first appearance for the Dons, sent the inside-right through and the latter shot well out of Breen's reach.
The Aberdeen side gave a much improved display in the second half, and no one grudged them their lead when Hamilton got a second goal.
Hamilton was unluckv not to register his hat-trick, for shortly afterwards he hit the crossbar with a terrific drive.

At the close, Sir Crawford McCullagh, Lord Mayor, presented each the nonsmoking members of the Aberdeen team with a fountain pen, and the players who smoke with a hundred cigarettes and case each.
Mr James Finnie, director, acknowledged on behalf of the team and later presented the Lord Mayor with a gift.
