These clubs met on the Recreation Grounds, Inches, on Saturday afternoon, and played two periods of three-quarters of an hour. The ground was in splendid condition, but a very strong wind prevented good football. Gladstone kicked off with the wind, and compelled the Orion to play a defensive game throughout the first half. When half-time was called Gladstone had scored three goals (two of which were put through by one of the Orion backs), while Orion had not scored. When ends were changed, however, Orion was more fortunate and at the end of the game had scored 5 goals, while Gladstone failed to score. The match thus ended in a win for Orion by 5 goals to 3.
