The Orion and the Caledonian had a very pleasant match indeed on Saturday. The result was a win for the Orion by 4 goals to 2. Space prevents an elaborate criticism of the game. Forward the Orion played a good game, Mackay especially distinguishing himself. C. Christie in the centre was of little use, the majority of the work being done by the wings. Their backs were not a bit bad either, the halfs playing a lot better than I have ever seen them. The backs had an easy time of it. The Caledonian forwards were in a mess, bashing away as best suited their fancy, and wherever seemed handiest. B. Brown seemed to have peculiar notions of the correct position of an outside left. The backs had a lot of hard work to put in and on the whole they were commendable. Their centre half-back and their full back Clark were the pick. Alec Brown turned away one or two good shots from the goal. This match closes the Caledonian season.
