The Aberdeen 4 - 1 Grammar School
Kick Off:    Clark, Brown, Clark, Ketchen
Attendance: 0
Venue: Holburn Cricket Ground, Aberdeen
This fixture was played off at Holburn Ground on Saturday in presence of a fir attendance of spectators. The Grammar won the toss, and elected to play with the wind and sun at their backs. Almost at the outset Mitchell shoved the ball home but it was cleverly knocked back by Wood, who just succeeded in reaching it with his hand. The Grammar kept the ball with great persistency dangerously near their opponents goal, but lost several chances by slow play. Operations were transferred to the Grammar goal, which, ten minutes after the start, Clark succeeded in taking with a well-directed kick. About five minutes afterwards a second goal was all but scored by Stewart, his attempt being frustrated by Hislop, the Grammar goalkeeper, rushing in front and spoiling the kick. A good deal of uninteresting play, chiefly confined to the vicinity of the Aberdeen goal, was then witnessed. In the course of the subsequent proceedings the leather was twice put over the Grammar goal, once by "Morley" Brown, and again by Clark. Stewart, playing a good game, got the ball nicely placed in the left corner of the Grammar goal, but Hislop managed to save goal. At five minutes to four Aberdeen registered their fourth goal, Ketchen sending it in. At half time the score stood: Aberdeen, 2 goals; Grammar School, nil. The play in the second half was characterised by a good deal of slovenly work on the part of the School, and the game concluded: Aberdeen, 4 goals; Grammar School, 1 goal.
