These clubs played off their first fixture this season at Holburn. The ground was in bad condition, being soft and muddy. The home team won the toss, and Banks kicked off from the west goal. Play was all through much in favour of Aberdeen. The "Caley" made one or two visits to the other end, but never stayed long; yet they manages, however, to secure a very easy goal, owing to a slip of Hyslop's , who was custodian for the day. The ground men had several easy chances, but owing to the greasy ball good shooting was almost impossible, and they did not increase their total. Half-time found the scores equal - one goal each. On resuming, the "Caley" defence had a warm time of it, but A. Brown worked well. A corner, capitally placed by Hinton, was sent through by Clark, Lumsden and Lothian added one each, the game ending: Aberdeen, 5 goals; Caledonian, 1 goal.
