Venue: Links Park, Montrose
AN INCIDENT
This match was played on Links Park, Montrose, before a fair attendance of spectators, the ground being in splendid condition. Aberdeen won the toss and elected to play with the sun at their backs. Montrose kicked off and ran the ball well down, but Keillor muddled in front of goal. Aberdeen then had two or three good chances, but experienced hard lines. Montrose had slightly the, best of the game, and scored three times. Half time: Montrose, 3; Aberdeen, 0.
The play in the second half was very equal, neither team having any advantage, but Montrose managed to add another point to their score before call of time, and the game ended: Montrose, 4; Aberdeen, 0. On the whole the Aberdeen played a plucky game, but had hard lines. Wood at goal, Key and Jarvis, at back, and Thomson at half played well for the Aberdeen. For the Montrose, Keillor at half and Mackie and Mackenzie forward were the best. The rest played about equal. Mackie, who has not played for some months, got a nasty kick on the knee and had to leave the field. This does not make any imputation of roughness, for the game was a treat to look at in that respect. The Aberdeen men always play a clean, gentlemanly game, and our men can reciprocate. Rev. Mr Cameron, of the Parish Church and Rev. Mr George, Free St John's, witnessed the: game.

It is somewhat disappointing that Aberdeen clubs invariably come off second best in south matches. It would rouse drooping spirits considerably if they could score at all, but the nil is, or seems, to be a permanency. The Aberdeen, although they played a gentlemanly hard game at Montrose on Saturday, had to leave the field without scoring, while their opponents had four goals to their credit.
