The Aberdeen 4 - 1 Black Diamond
Kick Off:
Attendance: 0
Venue: Chanonry, Aberdeen
Played in rough, boisterous weather at Chanonry in presence of a small attendance of spectators. The Black Diamond won the toss and had the advantage in the first half of playing with a strong wind at their backs. However, they only managed to notch a single point, the ground team equalising after a long time of hard work. In the second half the Aberdeen added 3 other goals, the game concluding: Aberdeen, 4 goals; Black Diamond, 1 goal. The Blacks, it ought to be noted, had to play the match one man short.

A Miserable Afternoon

Football was carried out in the city on Saturday under atmospheric conditions the revers of pleasant. The cold was intense, and a strong wind, which came in tornado-like gusts, made spectators and players alike shake and shiver, and wish they were safely under protection. So powerful were the elements that good football was out of the question. Than the Chanonry game, for instance, nothing more "stale, flat, and unprofitable" could be imagined, and, if accounts are to be believed, the Central Park show was hardly a whit better. The ball was oftener than not simply unmanageable, and at no time could it be said that sure goal-kicking was possible. Goalkeepers had a bad time of it.
