Played at Links Park, Montrose, between these two teams. The players on both sides were sadly handicapped all through by the soft nature of the ground. Notwithstanding there was some capital play, the admirable combination and neat play - entirely free from roughness - of the strangers being much admired. Played on the Links Park, Montrose. Mackie for the Montrose was the first scorer. After a spell of pressure by the Montrose, the blues began to play better, and soon after equalised. Beginning the second half the Aberdeen got a foul, but Mackie secured the ball and took it well down the field, and Graham did the needful, thus putting the stripes one ahead. Before the call of time Mackie secured number 3 for the Montrose. Result - Montrose 3 ; Victoria United 1. The Montrose played without Clark and Gordon, for whom they had substitutes.
