Orion 1 - 4 Montrose
Kick Off:
Attendance: 0
Venue: Central Park, Aberdeen
The Montrose visited the city and played the Orion at Central Park. The play in the opening half was pretty equal, the home team, if anything, having the best, McBain at back showing up prominently, as also Love in goal, the latter especially doing some grand saving work. At half-time both teams had scored one point. Early in the second half the visitors pressed, and almost immediately took the lead - scoring a soft goal. Keeping up the pressure, they again scored, the point being of the softest description. The Orion now had a look-in, but Allan saved grandly at the critical point, Montrose then put in some smart work, and again scored. Final result: Montrose, 4 ; Orion, 1.

The Orion gave the Montrose a stiff tussle for supremacy - indeed, it may be questioned whether, although they had the goals, they had anything like the best of the play. Four goals to one goal was not a satisfactory result, but it was better than 18-1.
