Scottish Cup First Round
Victoria United 1 - 2 Caledonian, Aberdeen
Kick Off:    Taylor       ?, Gunn
Attendance: 0
Venue: Victoria Bridge, Aberdeen
Played at Victoria Bridge Ground. The Victoria United were fortunate in having the sun at their backs in the first half, and during that period they made the play very fast for their opponents, whose goal was repeatedly and dangerously attacked. The ground eleven, however, lacked combination, especially when at close quarters, and again and again missed scoring in the most tantalising way. Taylor, from a bit of a scrimmage, ultimately headed through the first goal of the game. Again invading the Vics sent in a shot from the centre which narrowly missed taking effect, the leather striking the post and going behind on the outside. The Caledonian seldom got down, and the first half left the Victoria United a goal up.
The second period again saw the Victoria United doing the better work. The Caledonian, however, knew how to defend, and though at times hard pressed always kept their goal. They equalised in about twenty minutes, and again before the call of time Gunn scored a second goal amid excitement. The Vics worked hard to make a draw, but failed, and were thus knocked out of the competition by 2 goals to 1.
