Orion 4 - 3 Cameron Highlanders
Kick Off:    Gloag, Whitehead, McKay, ?       Fraser, Fraser, Scott
Attendance: 0
Venue: Central Park, Aberdeen
Played at Central Park, Aberdeen. The Camerons, well-built, strong fellows, won the toss, and naturally elected to play downhill. Although thus put at a disadvantage, the Orion were the first to invade, twice visiting the strangers' goal, and making good attempts at scoring. The Camerons then had a run down, and Fraser, the inside left, kicking a swift and low shot for goal, Diack was unable to turn aside the ball, which accordingly rolled through off his hand. From the kick at midfield the Orion forwards ran away with the leather, and at the corner Leggat had a good try. The Cameron goal keeper saved well, giving the ball to the centre forward, who changed the venue. A stiff tussle took place near the Orion goal, and in the course of the melee Fraser got past and scored. Orion for the next ten minutes had a lot of tries, and had several times extremely hard lines, but ultimately the soldiers again defeated their defence, Scott (the centre forward) heading through a third goal. Rest of the play in the first half was principally continued to the Cameron territory, and had it not been for the exertions of their goalkeeper the Orion could not have failed to score.
Crossing over with a leeway of three goals to make up, the Orion men lost no time in making the pace warm. A hard quarter of an hours fight took place, the Camerons acting entirely on the defensive, and then Gloag drew first blood for his side. Soon afterwards Whitehead scored a second point from the left, and to McKay fell the honour of putting on the equalising goal. The Camerons never got up the field, and, a fourth goal being got by the home team, the game ended: Orion, 4; Cameron Highlanders, 3.
