This important holiday fixture was played at Chanonry Grounds, Aberdeen, and was witnessed by a very large crowd. The play was good on both sides. In the first half the Celtic did most of the pressing, and but for the smart defence of the opposing backs would have scored any number of times. The dash and vigour displayed by the forwards were a positive eye-opener to the Aberdonians, who were also unable to keep up with the speed of the Celtic. Campbell was the first to score, taking the goal with a nice clean shot. They came again, and after an exciting scrimmage at the goal-mouth, the ball bobbing from player to player, Crossan once more lowered the Aberdeen colours. Just on the call of half time Key, the Aberdeen centre forward, defeated the Celtic goalkeeper.
On opening the second half Mollison, the Aberdeen centre half-back, was knocked down, and retired crippled, his place being taken by Wood. Cunningham took a third goal in fine style. The Celtic continued to have the best of exchanges, and on several occasions had hard lines in not scoring. Aberdeen, through Mitchell, got a second point, and a few minutes from time the Southerners had a fourth goal. Result: Celtic, 4; Aberdeen, 2.
