Arbroath 3 - 2 The Aberdeen
Kick Off:    ?, ?, O'Kane       Mitchell, Ritchie
Attendance: 0
Venue: Gayfield Park, Arbroath
Played at Gayfield, Arbroath. The ground was very hard, and partly covered with ice. There were second eleven players in both teams, Arbroath began the attack, but the strong kicking of their opponents prevented them from scoring. The first point fell to the visitors, and within a few minutes it was followed by a second, Mitchell and Ritchie respectively doing the needful. The Arbroath men now wakened up, and half-time saw the game equal - two goals each. In the second half the home team had the wind in their favour, and were soon around the Aberdeen goal, where, however, a good defence was kept up. The Aberdeen forwards gave the home backs plenty of work, Key and the right wing being conspicuous. Ultimately, near the close of the game, O'Kane, from back, sent in a capital shot beyond the reach of the custodian. The Aberdeen men made an effort to avoid defeat, but were unsuccessful, the match ending in favour of Arbroath by 3 goals to 2.
