AFC - Match Report
match report 1891-92 fixture list
Victoria United 8 - 2 Dunblane
Kick Off:  3:00 PM
Attendance: 0
Venue: Victoria Bridge, Aberdeen
These teams met at the Victoria Recreation Grounds in presence of a large turnout of spectators. The Dunblane, who are the holders of the Perthshire Cup, had their full team.
The Victoria, winning the toss and playing with a slight breeze in their favour, immediately got the ball into their opponents' territory, when Ferris shot a capital goal about five minutes from the start. Some desultory play followed, Dunblane having one or two concerted attacks on the Victoria goal, which, however, proved fruitless. The Victoria then took the game almost completely in hand, goal after goal being piled on. At half-time the match stood 6-0,in favour of the home eleven.
The second period was more evenly contested. About twenty minutes from the resumption of play, the Dunblane scored from a scrimmage at goal mouth, following up by notching a second and rather soft goal. After this achievement, however, the contest seemed to tell upon the "Reds," and the Victoria scored three more goals, the game thus ending: Victoria United 8, Dunblane 2.
The strangers were thoroughly outclassed, the beautiful combination of the Victoria forwards being in evidence throughout the game.
