The first half of the Dumbarton-Aberdeen game at Dumbarton was well contested, but the second found the home team predominant, and it was then that they settled matters.

Dumbarton, at home, beat the Aberdeen by 3 goals to 2, after a game which, though hard, provided little good football. There was an interesting first half, Thom opened the scoring, Walker equalised, Ferguson put the Sons of the Rock again ahead, and Cail replied. These four goals were all got in the opening 20 minutes. Dumbarton forwards played well to each other. This superiority over the visitors' attack was manifest all through. Gettins netted in the second period and this was all the scoring of the afternoon. Except in the offensive Aberdeen were quite as good as the home combination.# Source: Aberdeen Daily Journal, 1st February 1915
