This Northern League fixture was played on the Recreation Ground, Perth, in fine weather and in presence of a large crowd. In less than five minutes from the start the strangers found an opening. For a time the home team forced the pace, and eventually equalised, Campbell giving the ball the finishing touch. Hard work ensued, until Smith managed to put on the second goal for the Saints. The Aberdonians were not long in getting on level terms. On changing sides Campbell again put the Saints on the lead. The success, however, was only temporary, for the strangers not only equalised, but got two goals ahead, a well-contested game ending Aberdeen, 5; St Johnstone, 3.
