PLAYED at Central Park. Teams: Alva: McGregor; Henderson, Armstrong; Fulton, Todd, Coventry; Turnbull, Thomson, J. Henderson, Reid, Masterton. Orion: Edwards; Mackay, Forbes; Wight, Taylor, Currie; Fraser, McFarlane, Gardiner, Gloag, Murray.
The Orion won the toss, and the visitors opened the game. The Alva immediately pressed, and within five minutes scored, Masterton doing the needful. On resuming the Orion paid a short visit to the Alva's quarters, but Armstrong cleared his lines. A foul was granted off the Orion near goal mouth, but nothing came of it, and Gardiner getting on the ball dribbled it well down the field, and passed to Fraser, who in turn sent it across to Gloag, the latter shooting the first goal for his team. Shortly after Alva added another goal from a foul, Mackay unfortunately failing to negotiate. Even play followed till within five minutes from half-time, when Gloag, from out of a scrimmage, put on a second goal for the Orion.
In the second half play was monotonous until near the close, when Turnbull notched another point for the visitors. Gloag retaliated by sending home shortly after a splendid shot, which McGregor failed to keep out. Even play followed till within five minutes of the end, when Masterton beat Edwards by an extremely soft daisy cutter. The game thus ended: Alva 4, Orion 3.
