At Wellington Grounds. In the opening portion of the game United were superior, but by clever combination the Athletic got round and scored twice, A. McNeil and McCorquodale doing the needful. Half time score: Athletic 3; United 0. On recommencing United succeeded in puzzling Connell for the first time, and they kept up the pressure, putting the Athletic to their wits' end to save scoring. During Ririe's absence, through an injury, the Athletic added another goal. A fifth goal was put on by McCorquodale, but the United managed to get through a second point. Neal secured a sixth goal. Result: Athletic 6 goals, United 2 goals.
