Scottish Cup First Preliminary Round
02/09/1893

The Aberdeen 11 - 1 Fraserburgh
Kick Off:
Attendance: 0
Venue: Chanonry, Aberdeen
The first round in the Scottish Cup Ties was played off between the Aberdeen and Fraserburgh Wanderers at Chanonry. There was only a fair turnout of spectators. The match, as was to be expected, was a one-sided affair. The teams were: Aberdeen: Tom Smyth; Shepherd, Ritchie; Robson, Falconer, Ewen; White, McFarlane, Toman, Fred. Whitehead, Hill. Fraserburgh: J. Noble; Rennie, Henderson; Gray, Melvin, W. Noble; Mitchell, Noble, Fraser, Burnett, Gordon. Mr James Philip was referee.

The Aberdeen kicked off, and almost instantly assumed the aggressive, and after a fine run up the field, White scored the first goal. Points followed in quick succession, the visitors seemingly being quite nonplussed. At half-time the score stood: Aberdeen 6; Wanderers 0.<.p> After a restart had been made, the Wanderers worked hard to score, and five minutes of steady play terminated in W. Noble sending through a soft shot which Ritchie, who had changed places with Tom Smyth, failed to negotiate. After this the Whites immediately began to press and goal after goal was scored despite the efforts of the Wanderers to defend their charge. At the call of time a most uninteresting game stood: Aberdeen 11; Fraserburgh Wanderers 1.
