The Whites Again Defeated. |
 |
The Aberdeen travelled to Montrose in order to play the local team in the Northern League competition. The match in the first half was very evenly contested, and at half-time the scores stood: Aberdeen 2, Montrose 2.
In the second halt the Montrose showed their superiority, and again and again invaded the visitors' territory Ramsay in goal put in some fine work, but the attacks were too much for him, and twice in succession he was beaten. The Aberdeen were greatly handicapped by the loss of Toman, who had to retire owing to an injury. Several times the Whites' forwards tried to break away, but the defence of the Montrose was too strong, and the ball was always returned. The home team scored other two points, and when the whistle blew the scores stood: Montrose 6, Aberdeen 2.

At Montrose the Aberdeen were defeated by 6 goals to 2, but when we consider they played with ten men the greater part of the game, through Toman being rendered hors de combat it is not to be wondered at. The Chanonry combination generally begins badly, but it is high time they were wakening up.
