Div 1 (Old)

Dumbarton 2 - 1 Aberdeen
Kick Off:    McGregor 7, Riddell up 90 up       Cumming 2.
Attendance: 2,500
Venue: Boghead Park, Dumbarton
At Boghead Park, Dumbarton, in dull weather, before about 2000 spectators.

The game had a sensational opening, Cummings scoring for Dons 2 minutes after the start from a cross by Archibald. Dumbarton attacked with great determination, and in the next 5 minutes McGregor equalised from close in. This was the result of clever work by Thom. Thereafter the Sons of the Rock had the hardest of lines, Anderson's saving being really clever. Aberdeen had several dangerous raids on the home goal, but all without effect. A nice cross from McKay was landed over the bar by Cummings, while Hamilton had a brilliant full-length saved from the same player. Soon afterwards Dumbarton were slightly superior, but Anderson proved a host in himself.

The Dons showed up better after the restart, and for a time Dumbarton's defence was kept busy, Archibald all but getting the long-looked-for goal. Dumbarton again came into the picture, and Gilchrist missed a likely chance from close in. The Dons were doing nobly, and only the hardest of luck kept them from scoring. It was a keenly-contested game, and each goalkeeper got plenty to do. Riddell scored for Dumbarton at the call of time.
