Played at Chanonry. Teams: Aberdeen: Ramsay; Ketchen, Wood; Shepherd, Davidson, Cobban; "Smith," McFarlane, Whyte, Fred Whitehead, Hill. St Johnstone: McPherson; Scott, Burnfield; Wilson, Anderson, Abbott; Stewart, Henderson, Waddell, Cooper, Mitchell. Mr Robertson, 5th K.R.V. acted as referee.
St Johnstone started the game, and soon forced a corner, but bad shooting lost several good chances. Aberdeen then made their way to the strangers' goal, and McFarlane sent the ball through, but the point was disallowed on the plea offside. A minute afterwards "Smith" scored one about which there was no doubt, and after a good few opportunities had been lost through erratic shooting, McFarlane added a second. Retaliating with a rush the strangers obtained their first point, but before half-time sounded the Aberdeen again scored, and at the change of ends led by 3 to 1.
St Johnstone played up well in the second half, and Burnfield added a second goal, but almost immediately afterwards McFarlane, from a throw-in, with a swift shot, lowered the strangers' colours for the fourth time. For a time play was continued to mid-field, but St Johnstone at last got down, and before time was called managed to equalise. The game thus ended in a draw of 4 goals each.
