Considering the weather conditions, the game served up at Shawfield Park, Glasgow, between Clyde and Aberdeen reached a fairly high standard. In the first half Clyde had to face the wind and rain, but they made light of their handicap, and had the better of matters. In twelve minutes Shimmon opened the scoring, after Watson had struck the cross-bar. Before the interval Lindsay smartly scored a second goal. In the second half Aberdeen tried hard to reduce the leeway, but their forwards missed several good opportunities. The outstanding players were Cowan, Neave, and Lindsay for Clyde, and Colman, Jackson, and Ambler for Aberdeen. The attendance was about 1000.

Aberdeen put up a stiff fight at Shawfield. Although the Glasgow Cup finalists won by two goals to nil, they had to go all the way for the points. They had a new centre, Lindsay, the crack Petershill junior, who had been greatly sought after, and he lead the van in good style. Aberdeen, on the other hand, had Sergeant Jackson, late of Middlesbrough, deputising for J. Wyllie, and some changes in the attack, Cruikshank reappearing at outside right and Robertson turning out on the other wing in place of W. Wylie, who lost the train. Clyde scored in 12 minutes, and Lindsay added a second, after Aberdeen had pressed for the equaliser. Both teams found the conditions stiff as the game wore on, and neither players nor spectators were sorry when the whistle sounded. Aberdeen's defence was good all through.
