The Orion Beeking Up
A friendly match at Central Park, Aberdeen, occupied the attention of these clubs. Although playing uphill in the first half, the local men had the lion's share of play. They secured their first goal before the game was many minutes old, and their second just before half-time. On crossing over they quickly increased their score to four. Towards the close Brechin put on a rather unexpected spurt, and as a result they reduced their leeway by two goals. They were, however, unable to further improve their position, and the game ended: Orion 4, Brechin 2.

After the signal defeat of the Victoria United by the Brechin eleven, a good deal of interest was evinced in the visit of the Cathedral City's footballers to Central Park. The game was not a great one, but the locals had the best of what really scientific play there was agoing, and it was only the weak defence of Hugh McKay which let in the strangers, who scored their three goals in almost as many minutes, one of which was withheld, but for what reason we can't say. From where we stood the point looked genuine. One or two of the strangers showed their teeth rather much, Gloag and Thom having all their work cut out to keep their tempers. The gent who went centre-half in the closing period was the greatest sinner in this respect. Once, indeed, we thought, the talented favourite of Central Park was to lose his head, but his better self came uppermost, and Billie came out of the ordeal with an unsullied reputation.
