In the second round of the Aberdeenshire cup ties these teams met at Wellington Grounds before a small attendance of spectators. The 'Varsity started well, and had the honour of putting on the first goal, which they did from a scrimmage soon after the start. The advantage, however, was short lived. Their more experienced opponents soon gained the upper hand, and at half-time they were leading 3 goals to 1. The second period was again largely in favour of the Vics, who were eventually the winners by 6 goals to 1.
