A Northern League fixture between the above teams was played off on Saturday at Chanonry, Aberdeen. Teams: Arbroath - Strachan; Cowie, Penny; Stewart, McGlashan, Ford; Black, McNab. Hutton, Guthrie. Aberdeen - Smyth; Gall, Davidson; P. Smith, J. Smith, Thomson; Cable, Milne, Cadger, Gray, J. Mackie. The referee was Mr Black, Forfar Athletic.
Aberdeen kicked off against a slight breeze and a strong sun in their faces. Arbroath got the ball and kept pressing, but Gall by a fine kick relieved. Arbroath still kept pressing, and soon netted the ball. Give-and-take play followed for some time, after which Cable equalised. Arbroath then pressed, and Clark scored a second point. The score at half-time stood: Arbroath, 2 ; Aberdeen, 1. On resuming Arbroath pressed, but as the game progressed Aberdeen took the upper hand, and ran out victors by 4 goals to 2.
