The first match for the season in Montrose was played on Links Park on Saturday, before a fair attendance of spectators. Montrose kicked off towards the west goal against the breeze. A few minutes from the start Dickie scored for the home team from a fine pass by Watson. For Orion Thom equalised with a good shot. Before halt-time Leggat and Cobb scored a goal each for their respective teams, but Orion had the pull of the game after this, and ran out winners by 4 goals to 2.
