Wilson's Equaliser.
With the wind in their favour in the second half there came a slight Aberdeen improvement, but never any time did their work compare favourably with that the visitors. Several likely chances were lost, even although the Motherwell goal was rather fortunate to escape downfall. Rundell distinguished himself when out of his goal by effecting a clever overhead save from Wylie, and later Connon was presented with practically an open goal when he squared, McGregor, the Motherwell right back, miskicking and almost putting through his own goal. Anderson had some clever saves from Rankin, Ferguson, Gardiner, and Ferris, and just when Motherwell promised to increase their lead, 15 minutes from time. Aberdeen got level. Brown, the visitors' centre-half, who played a strong game throughout, miskicked on the 18 yards line, and before he could recover Wilson shot into the net out of Rundell's reach. The closing stages of the game were more vigorously contested than any preceding period, both teams going all out for the winning goal. Rundell finely saved a free kick taken by Hannah, and both defences were well tried, but full time arrived without any addition to the score, which did Justice to both teams on the run of the play. Best for Aberdeen were Anderson, Hannah. Wright, Yule, Archibald and Wilson, and for Motherwell McGregor, Brown. Rankine, and Gardiner. Attendance, 10,000.Source: Aberdeen Daily Journal, 3rd May 1920
