The Aberdeen and Forfar Athletic teams met in their return Northern League engagement at Pittodrie Park. The weather broke down just before the commencement of the game, and only a fair number of spectators lined the ropes. The teams were:- Aberdeen: Bisset; Douglas, Morrison; J. Mackie, Sangster, Brown; Brodies, Davidson, C. Mackie, Fullerton, Shiach. Forfar Athletic: Thomson; Scott, Gibb; McFarlne, Campbell, Mackay; Cuthbert, Dickson, Jones, Petrie, Couttie. Referee - Mr. McArthur, Stirling.
Forfar won the toss, and C. Mackie kicked off towards the city. Aberdeen at once pressed, and Fullerton nearly scored. End-to-end play followed, and the local team had easily the best
of the exchanges. They, however, appeared too anxious to score, and lost several easy chances. Once more Aberdeen got down and forced a corner. Brodie shot straight for goal, and Gibb, in endeavouring to clear, kicked the ball into his own goal. Immediately afterwards J. Mackie scored a second goal for Aberdeen. The Whites now forced the game, and Forfar had to act on the defensie. From a foul, about midfield, Thomson sent in a long shot, which the visitors' backs failed to clear, and Sangster, rushing up, tipped the ball smartly into the net.
The second half opened on fairly equal terms, the Whites doing slightly most of the aggressive work. Forfar, however, had several good tries for goal, but Bisset was in fine form, and cleared repeatedly. Aberdeen, again getting possession of the ball, made off at a great pace, and Mackie scored a fourth goal just before time. Forfar pressed, and were awarded a penalty for one of the homesters knocking down the ball with his arm. Bisset saved amid great excitement, but failed to get the ball away, with the result that it was rushed into the net.
