Considerable interest was taken in this match owing to the fine form shown by the local team during the past few weeks. A large crowd lined the ropes at Pittodrie Park on Saturday afternoon, when the teams lined up as follows: Dundee T. Stewart; Allan, Keillor; A. Halkett, W. Stewart, Gowans; Atherton, Steven, Louden, Cowie, Reisbeck. Aberdeen: Bisset; O'Brien, J. Mackie; Sangster, Thomson, Robertson; Brash, C. Mackie, Livingstone, Davidson, Fullerton. Mr. Hood, St Johnstone, acted as referee.
Aberdeen started off with the wind iin their favour, and immediately got in range, but Fullerton was pulled up for being offside. Dundee had next a look in, but O'Brien relieved in fine style. The Aberdeen forwards were showing excellent form, but the shooting was rather wild. At length C. Mackie found the net, about 15 minutes from the start. Dundee now showed some smart work, but were not so dangerous in front of goal as the local team. Just before half-time dundee were going strongly, but failed to score from a penalty kick.
Aberdeen again started the second period in fine style. Both goals were visited in rapid succession, and as the result of a fine run down the left wing by Fullerton and Davidson, the former scored a magnificent goal.Just before the close, the Pittodrie team again got into close quarters, and after Stewart had saved one shot from the foot of Livingstone, he found beaten by Fullerton, who thus scored a third goal for Aberdeen.
