The Aberdeen and Dunfermline met in a Northern League fixture on Pittodrie Grounds. Notwithstanding the more important attraction at Central Park, there was a fair attendance of spectators. The teams were:- Aberdeen: McBean; Walker, J. Mackie; Sangster, Murphy, Drummond; C. Mackie, Nicol, Breslin, Taylor, Robertson. Dunfermline: Thomson; Pitblado, W. Strang; A. Strang, Beveridge, Masterton; Laurie, Pitairns, McLeod, Brewster, W. Beveridge. Mr. Thos. Peat, Dundee, was referee.
Aberdeen kicked off towards the city and the early stages of the game were of a give and take nature. The Whites showed some fine form, and Breslin was presented with a grand chance to score, but was too slow and was robbed of the ball. The visitors then rushed down the left wing, and the Aberdeen goal had a narrow escape, the ball just going past. End to end play followed and half-time arrived without any scoring.
On the restart, Dunfermline pressed, but Laurie, when he was about to shoot an almost certain goal, fell, and was immediately robbed of the ball. Some fine combination was being shown by the visitors, but they could make nothing of the home defence. Aberdeen made frequent raids into the Dunfermline territory, but shot very weakly when in close quarters. It was the visitors' turn now, and as the result of some smart passing they got down and scored. Aberdeen made determined efforts to equalise, but failed, and the visitors ran out victors by a single goal.
